Prison Gato

Prison Gato was a game created in 48 hours for PushStart’s in-person GameJam (2023), with the theme: Indirect Control. The company is now called Kolab.

The player controls Scol, and their goal is to help his brother Linc escape from prison (a reference to Prison Break) using a walktalk, a map and guard’s positions. You can’t see what’s happening inside the prison; you can only hear (read) what Linc tells you via audio, and then direct him accordingly.

I did the full programming for the project, and it was developed in collaboration with artist Gabriela Airi. Unfortunately, the artist couldn’t participate in the second day of the Game Jam, which forced me to use some AI-generated assets to deliver the game on time (which was allowed).

The game achieved first place in the Game Jam, having been chosen based on overall scores given by 3 judges, and competing with 7 other groups of participants made up of company employees and guests.
